HISTORY
The pioneering of this park may have been carried out since 1912 in conjunction with the construction of the tunnel tapping the Ci Kapundung river (later known as the Dutch Cave), but its inauguration as a protected forest was only carried out in 1922. This forest area has been pioneered in development since 1960 by Mashudi (Governor of West Java) and Ir. Sambas Wirakusumah who was then serving as North Bandung Administrator and concurrently Director of the Academy of Forestry Sciences, and received support from Ismail Saleh (Minister of Justice) and Soejarwo (Director General of Forestry at the Ministry of Agriculture). In 1963 some of the protected forest area began to be prepared as a Tourism Forest and Botanical Gardens. In 1963 at the time of the death of Ir. R. Djoeanda Kartawidjaja (Ir. H. Djuanda), then the Protected Forest is enshrined as the Recreation Botanic Garden Ir. H. Djuanda to commemorate his services and at that time the Dago road was called the Ir. H. Djuanda.
